When Leia Barsky returned to Stone Creek, she admitted to her mother, Diem, that she had in fact went to visit her father, William Maverick. The younger woman even went as far as defending William against Diem and telling her mother that he was a changed man. This caused a rift between mother and daughter.
In early 2012, Helen Schmidt needed an attorney and called her old friend to help with her divorce from Dr. David Schmidt. William arrived in town to help Helen.
